UN to Investigate Human Rights Violations in Yemen During Ongoing Civil War

By

The United Nations Human Rights Council has agreed to launch an independent investigation into the alleged human rights violations committed in Yemen by all parties in the civil war that has been ongoing now for three years. The decision was the result of lengthy discussions between the Saudis, the Arab League, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and the USA.

The investigation gives experts a one-year mandate to report on any human rights abuses in Yemen dating back to September 2014. This includes seeking to identify those responsible for committing these crimes.
