UN Releases Statement About Political Developments in Libya

By

In a recent statement, the United Nations’ envoy for Libya, Martin Kobler has encouraged the House of Representatives (HoR) to gather in Tobruk so they can vote on the Government of National Accord, namely the unity government.

The envoy noted that: “a positive endorsement by the House will be key to facilitating a peaceful and orderly transfer of executive authority.”

Mr. Kobler also welcomed an executive meeting of the HoR that was held on Friday 8th April in Cairo. It took place between House of Representative President and senior House officials, including the first and second Vice Presidents.

The House executives received praise from Mr. Kobler for displaying leadership and tenacity at this crucial stage in Libya’s political development. He stated that: “The House of Representatives remains central to the political process and to the implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind about this.”
