Thai Lawyers for Human Rights

By

To mark International Women’s Day, 9BRi would like to note the achievements of lawyer Yaowalak Anuphan from Bangkok where in 2014 she established her own legal group, Thai Lawyers for Human Rights. The group was formed to tackle alleged human rights abuses committed by the Thai junta.

“We want to stand up for the rule of law and democracy,” Anuphan said of her decision to create the group. Anuphan has long fought for the protection of women and her ideology and determination were shared by many others.

Today, Thai Lawyers for Human Rights has become one of the most prominent women-led legal groups in the region.
