Summarising a paper he published for the Foreign Policy Centre in The Independent, Sam Fowles has outlined that, if Theresa May and her government are still in power by the time Britain has left the EU, ‘second generation’ trade and investment treaties could prioritise investor protection over individuals’ human rights. This is especially true if the Human Rights Act is repealed.
