Peacekeepers, UN Staff and Troops Face Abuse Charges in Central African Republic

Allegations of sexual abuse have been made against UN staff, peacekeepers and French troops in the Central African Republic. Following these claims, a report entitled “Preventing Conflict, Transforming Justice, Securing the Peace” has been published to mark the 15th anniversary of Security Council Resolution 1325, which sought to put women at the centre of conflict resolution. The accusations have caused Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations Secretary General to dismiss the Head of Mission in the CAR and announce his intention to name those countries where troops have been accused.
