Meditation for Barristers

By

Barristers experience a variety of mental and physical health pressures in practice, particularly in dealing with the severe stresses created by litigation.

Gray’s Inn is keen to support initiatives to address the prevailing (but dated) view that those who seek assistance in such situations are not “up to the job”.

A Member of Gray’s, Gillian Higgins (a senior criminal practitioner at 9 Bedford Row), has very kindly offered to assist fellow Members of the Inn by conducting 4 short evening drop-in, bespoke, ‘meditation for barristers’ sessions in the Inn. Gillian has practised as a barrister for 17 years. She is also trained as a meditation teacher and so eminently suitable to provide relevant assistance to fellow members of the Bar.

The sessions will address the professional challenges faced by barristers, help to increase focus, strengthen professional relationships and reduce anxiety through different types of meditation.

The sessions will take place in the Education Training Rooms* on the following dates:

Monday 19th September 2016 (6.15pm)
Monday 26th September 2016 (6.15pm)
Monday 3rd October 2016 (6.15pm)
Monday 10 October 2016 (6.15pm)

*The Education Training Rooms are found via the Library Entrance in South Square. On entering the building please descend to the lower ground floor.

If you wish to attend please email Gill directly at gillyhiggins@gmail.com

A suggested donation of £10 can be offered by participants on arrival at the session.
