HRW Alleges Abuse of Detained Children by Israeli Security Forces

Human Rights Watch (HRW) is claiming that Israeli police are abusing Palestinian children detained in the West Bank.

According to Sari Bashi, Israel and Palestine country director at HRW, “Palestinian children are treated in ways that would terrify and traumatize an adult”. HRW alleges the use of unnecessary and disproportionate force used to arrest and detain the children, including physical abuse and holding them in unsafe and abusive conditions.

With the high increase in numbers of Palestinian minors detained in Israeli prisons, there is growing concern about the violation of national and international law that provides special protection for children in detention.
