
Steven Kay QC is to moderate a session titled “Is Truth the First Casualty of War?” at the IBA War and Justice Conference on 21st April in the Peace Palace, The Hague. It will be a panel discussion on recent international incidents such as the Syrian sarin gas attacks in 2015 and the chlorine attack in 2018; the Russian invasion of Ukraine; Where rival claims as to the truth deflect attention from the tragedy experienced by civilians.
Other topics that will be discussed include: terrorism, armed conflict and permissible use of force, the ICC activation of the jurisdiction on aggression: strategic and substantive consideration and is the future of international criminal law domestic?
