The purpose of the two-day webinar is to help the governments of Central Asia strengthen dispute-settlement capacities, particularly international arbitration and contract enforcement for domestic firms. This event follows from the findings of the OECD report on Improving the Legal Environment for Business and Investment in Central Asia, in which these areas were identified as priorities for reform in all of the project countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan).
The webinar will bring together experts from OECD member and non-member countries, the OECD Secretariat, partner international organisations, and from the Central Asia region. The webinar will provide a platform to discuss policy responses to a shared challenge across the region, the resolution of which will be central to long-term and endurable improvements to the enforcement of laws, regulations, and contracts, and to the overall legal environment for business.
