
Eric-Aime Semien, a lawyer and human rights defender at Observatoire Ivoirien des Droits de l’Homme in Côte d’Ivoire, has written a blog on the impact of the ICC investigation in the Côte d’Ivoire.
For almost two decades, Cote d’Ivoire was locked in a cycle of violence that resulted in an armed rebellion (2002) and a post-election crisis, (2010-2011). In 2011, faced with a record of 3,000 deaths and thousands of people injured and missing, the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court launched an investigation into the events that took place within the West African country.
